Change the decimal to a dot, and the thousands separator to a comma. Or again, the other way around. The trick is that you tell Excel here which character is a decimal, and not what it should be. A bit confusing, eh. Click OK to leave the wizard. And, tad-aah: These look like real numbers to me. Convert decimals in Excel.

The English-speaking countries like the U.S., the U.K, and Australia decimal separatorsare different from the European countries' decimal delimiters. The first ones useperiod, point, or dot as a decimal separator (17.96) and comma as a thousand groupsdelimiter (1,017.96). Others use comma as a decimal separator (17,96) and quotation asa thousand groups delimiter (1'017,96). By default, Excel gets separator settings fromWindows, and changing the Windows settings can break other applications, but advancedExcel options allow you to override the Windows settings.
To change Excel options for decimal separators, do the following:
1. On the File tab, click the Optionsbutton:
2. In the Excel Options dialog box, onthe Advanced tab, clean the Use system separators checkbox:

3. In the appropriate fields, enter symbols you needfor Decimal separator and for Thousands separator.

Note: Changing dot to comma in the Decimal separator field alsorequires changes in the Thousands separator field. You can’t use comma forboth fields.
Decimal separator settings are not specific for the current workbook and changenumber formats in all workbooks you open.
