Ninite is a utility for Windows that allows you to download a custom offline installer package that contains all the software programs selected by you. Here is how you can use the utility to install multiple apps together on your Windows PC.
All the selected software programs will be installed on the PC sequentially, even without an active Internet connection.
You can keep your own custom copy of Ninite installer and use it to install the selected apps on any PC. If your PC is connected to the Internet, the installer will also check for updated versions of available apps, and update the installer automatically.
Ninite has been around for a long time and now even has a Pro version of the app for business users, which lets IT professionals remotely deploy and update software in company workstations.
Until recently, there weren’t any viable Ninite alternative for Mac available on the Internet. But that was until the macapps.link website came into existence.
This website follows a very similar approach to Ninite, in that it lets you create custom installer packages, by selecting the programs and apps that you want to install. But instead of letting you download an offline installer package, macapps creates a custom curl command that you can run in the Terminal to get all the selected apps automatically installed.
That’s it! Now you can sit back and wait as all the selected apps are installed via the terminal.
Note: Since the Terminal actively downloads the software packages from the Internet while running the command, an active Internet connection is required for this to work.
Also, some of the apps offered by macapps repository are paid software programs. You’ll need a valid license key to run those programs, even though you’ve installed them from the macapps repository.

I've developed a website like Ninite for Mac. It lets you install multiple Mac apps unattended and automatically, avoiding you having to go to the app website, look for the link to download, wait to download, extract the zip or mount the dmg, drag to the Applications folder, and then delete the dmg or zip. All this, if you take accounts and multiply by 5 to 10 apps that can be installed when we have a new Mac or reinstall the system.. it's a lot of time!
Just open you're favourite browser and go to http://macapps.link
In the website, select a bunch of apps and click de install button.
Copy the generated command and paste it to Terminal.app. Press Enter and let apps to be downloaded and installed automatically.
Save time using macapps.link and use it to deploy the generated command to install or update apps in your company.
Can we have someone confirm this is not a Malware flogging site.
Or if in fact this even works. (I'm not going to risk it.)
Haven't tried it either but if it's like ninite, it could definitely save some time, great tip. Thanks.
@Dane Ryan: Unlike webs like Softonic or MacUpdate, apps are downloaded from the official site. You can see the 'magic' behind if you go to, for example, http://macapps.link/es/firefox-chrome and see the script. If you look deep, the URL from which downloads the app is the official site (100% free of malware).
macapps.link generates a bash script and a command to download and execute this script. Just analyze the script and you'll see no trap :)
This actually looks kind of cool. Looks like it uses curl to pull the updates down to your computer via terminal app
@Tom7741: Exactly. It uses curl and simple bash scripting to download, extract or mount the downloaded file and move the .app to the /Applications folder. Of course it is not so simple but it is that in essence. Glad you like it!
What apps love Spiceworks and should be included? Update comming :)
Great job. I have used Getmacapps.com several times but your site has more apps. If you could add Java it would be awesome!
@Michael3671 Thanks for your comments! Can't add Java because it's a .pkg and requires elevated privileges. macapps.link can only install .app files ðŸ‘x8D
just trying this out now looking good though one to bookmark for sure
